Beginning on the Palo Alto‑Clay County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 19‑T96N‑R34W, Palo Alto County, (NE Corner Section 24‑T96N‑R35W, Clay County); thence southeasterly through Section 19‑T96N‑R34W to a point approximately 700 feet west and 300 feet south of the NE Corner Section 19‑T96N‑R34W; thence northeasterly through Sections 19 and 20‑T96N‑R34W to a point approximately 2,200 feet west of the NE Corner Section 20‑T96N‑R34W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24‑T96N‑R34W and Sections 19 and 20‑T96N‑R33W to a point (west junction Iowa 4) near the NE Corner Section 20‑T96N‑R33W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 21, 22 and 23‑T96N‑R33W to a point approximately 1,800 feet west of the NE Corner Section 23‑T96N‑R33W; thence curving in a southeasterly direction to the west corporation line of Emmetsburg, connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; thence southeasterly on said unnamed street to 9th Street; thence east on 9th Street to the east corporation line.

Beginning again an the east corporation line of Emmetsburg connecting with 9th Street; thence easterly following substantially the section lines of Sections 30, 29, 28, 27, 26 and 25‑T96N‑R32W and Section 30 T96N‑R31W to a point approximately 500 feet west of the N ¼ Corner Section 30‑T96N‑R31W; thence curving southeasterly to a point approximately 500 feet south of the N ¼ Corner said Section 30; thence southerly following substantially the center section line through Sections 30 and 31‑T96N‑R31W to the north corporation line of Cylinder connecting with Main Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, US 18 in Palo Alto County should he deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

US 18 begins on the Palo Alto‑Clay County line approximately 1 mile west of Ruthven and runs generally southeasterly via Emmetsburg and Cylinder to the Palo Alto‑Kossuth County line approximately 5 ½ miles east of Cylinder

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate US 18 and its extensions in Palo Alto County as follows:

NOTE: To become effective one year after completion and opening to traffic of relocated US 18 (more specifically, Palo Alto County Project FN‑18‑3 (5) ‑29‑74), and notice has been given the County that the old location is to revert to the Secondary Road System.
